Physics AS/A2 at Sir Frederic Osborn School
Physics courses include Mechanics, Electricity, Wave Motion, Field Theory, Thermodynamics and Atomic and Nuclear Physics. Very large and very small phenomena are studied, from the planets orbiting the Sun to the electron orbiting a nucleus. Your work will include many new theories, explanations and descriptions, practical investigations and lots of calculations.
In the second year modern Physics ideas including Particle Physics, Medical Physics and Cosmology are studied. Students are assessed through written examinations, whilst their experimental work is assessed through controlled assessment.
A pass in A-Level Physics enables students to take Higher Education courses in subjects such as Science, Engineering, Computing and Medicine and can be a valuable asset for Business and Finance.
Minimum of a B if the subject was taken as a separate science at GCSEMinimum of BA if Core and Additional Science was taken.Minimum of B grade in Mathematics*APS: over 43 if more than one science to be studied
