Travel and Tourism First Diploma Level 2 at Lowestoft College

Course description

This course is for anyone interested in a career in the Travel and Tourism industry. It is a vocational qualification designed to offer you a choice of routes into further and higher education and employment.

Course content

This programme includes a variety of units which may include:

  • Interpersonal Skills for the Travel and Tourism Workplace
  • Worldwide Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • Resort Representatives
  • Principles of Customer Service
  • Business Travel Planning
  • Planning an Event
  • Tutorials

There is no overseas travel connected to this course, but day visits to UK cities/theme parks/destinations may occur subject to availability, feasibility and costs involved.

Entry requirements

Two subjects at GCSE grade C or above. You will need to pass an entry test and have a positive tutor statement or employer reference.


The course is assessed via a range of methods including:

  • Projects
  • Presentations
  • Case studies
  • Coursework
  • External written tests

Future opportunities

Upon completion of this course, you may wish to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism before studying at degree level. Alternatively, after completing the Level 2 qualification, you may wish to begin your career in the travel and tourism industry. There is also the opportunity to progress onto Air Cabin Crew.

Career opportunities in the travel and tourism industry are varied and include: Transport Operators, Tour Operators, Airports, Travel Agencies, Business Travel Agencies, Theme Parks, Ferry Services, Tourist Information Centres, Hotels and Call Centres.
