Travel and Tourism BTEC First Certificate at Oldershaw Academy

Course description

This is an exciting new one year course worth 4 GCSEs grades A*-C when you pass the course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on workplace situations and activities because it is a work related course.

The course will also help you to build up a portfolio of work. You will develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes which are essential for successful performance in working life.

Course content

You will study three core units: The UK Travel and Tourism Industry, Exploring Customer Service in Travel and Tourism, and UK Travel and Tourism Destinations.

You will also study three specialist units: European Holiday Destinations, Exploring Marketing in Travel and Tourism, and Planning Visits for Travel and Tourism.

Entry requirements

The course requires you to have 4 GCSEs at grades E or above. These should include English and Maths but you may re-take them in the Sixth Form if necessary.

Future opportunities

BTEC qualifications are recognised by employers and educational institutions and they provide a good progress route for more advanced qualifications e.g. BTEC Nationals, AS exams or directly into work or training in the Travel and Tourism Industries.
