This specialist programme equips you with the knowledge, understanding and skills for employment and provides career development opportunities for anyone already in work.

Many students progress to higher education after topping up to the Extended Diploma, which is equivalent to three A Levels.

During the programme you will spend time in a variety of health settings caring for a range of age groups and abilities.

You will also learn about human health, disease, psychology and social behaviour.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English and Maths, or a full Level 2 qualification at a Distinction Grade with literacy and numeracy at the appropriate level.

Evidence of previous relevant work experience would be useful. As with all programmes that involve working in health/childcare settings, you will need to undergo an enhanced police check Data Baring Service (DBS).

Some of your units will be internally assessed and others externally. You will regularly review your work with your tutor and receive feedback on your progress.
