Public Services Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at The Littlehampton Academy
To learn advanced skills in preparation for a career in the public services, community or voluntary sector. The level 3 Diploma is aimed at people who ultimately wish to pursue a career in the uniformed public services. The course provides a thorough understanding of the fundamental aspects of the public services.
The course is designed to give you a good underpinning knowledge of the public services and develop some essential skills that you will need in the future. You will learn in a variety of ways from traditional class activities and lessons to practical activities such as working in teams. The diploma is equivalent to 3 A levels.
This is a full time, Advanced Level 3 BTEC qualification in which you will study a whole range of subjects that give you an excellent understanding of a range of Public Services. You will learn and develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in the public services. You will look at the main issues facing you within the public services in relationship to society. Also how you can develop your fitness, stay healthy and maintain a level if fitness which will enable you to meet the physical entry requirements for some of the public services.
Mandatory Units (60 credits)
- Government. policies and the public services, Leadership and Teamwork in the public services, Citizenship, Diversity and the public services, Understanding Discipline in the Uniformed Public Services, Fitness, Testing and Training for the Uniformed Public Services.
Optional Units (123 credits)
- Physical preparation, health and lifestyle for the public services, Crime and its effects on society, Aspects of the legal system and law making process, Understanding the impact of War, Conflict and Terrorism.
5 GCSEs grade C or above including English Language.
5 core units (60 credits), 29 optional units (120 credits, 180 total).
On successful completion of the course you could apply for employment in the Public services or progress to higher level of study such as a degree in criminology, sociology or even disaster management.
