Enterprise Skills in Business Level 3 Diploma at City College Plymouth

Course description

If you are looking for a more hands-on business route, one that will get you meeting and working with people from a range of organisations, then this is the ideal choice for you. The core project will see you working on a new business opportunity for a City business. This is a great chance to put real work experience on your CV alongside gaining a clear understanding of how businesses operate and develop.   You will need to be an independent learner, who can think for themselves and enjoys a challenge. You will meet with your employer/sponsor to understand their business and the project’s purpose. You will then research exciting and innovative opportunities through online marketing or direct survey work and field study, write a report on your findings and present this back to your sponsor employer.

Course content

You will start the year looking into the skills of an entrepreneur, meeting people who have been there and achieved success in a new business venture: from young people starting out to more experienced people running their own businesses. From here you will review your skills and develop a personal and professional development plan.  You will then choose your project with a range of employers including the College’s wide range of business operations.

Throughout the year you will learn about workplace culture and communication; leadership styles and ways to motivate others; develop your awareness of how businesses operate; how they are managed and different ownership models. You will develop project management and communication, teamwork and leadership skills so vital for employment in today’s world of work.
