Course description

Business Studies A level will give you a thorough grounding in the skills required for today’s rapidly changing business world.

Employers are always keen to employ people with a good understanding of business and this course will provide you with exactly that. You’ll gain skills in all aspects of running a business including starting one of your own!

The Business Studies AS level is a qualification in its own right and may be studied for a oneyear course.

Each lesson begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall study programme. Effective learning is encouraged through activities and selfassessment.

Course content

The course is made up of four units:

Business Studies AS level

  • Planning and financing a business
  • Managing a business

Business Studies A level

  • Strategies for success
  • The business environment and managing change

Entry requirements

In addition to the Minimum Entry Requirements you will need a GCSE grade B in English Language or Maths.

Assessment

Assessment both on the AS-level and A-level is 100% examination.

Future opportunities

Business Studies can lead to a variety of higher education and career opportunities, including: International Business, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Accounting & Finance, Law, Politics, Business Computing and Operations Management in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Business Studies graduates often go on to management training schemes with large companies or into professional training in accountancy or financial services.
