Course description

Every business exists for one purpose and one purpose alone – to serve customers. Customer Service, therefore, is the backbone of and can make or break any business – the key to the success of any business or organisation.

Course content

A qualification in customer service will give you the edge you need to stand head and shoulders above your peers and get ahead in your career. You will gain the skills you will need to make a customer’s experience better. As a customer service apprentice, you will work at the front end of an employer’s business activities and regularly assist customers. In most cases you’ll be making sure that customers are dealt with in a positive, reliable and pleasant way.

This new insight and added learning will not only improve your motivation and morale, but will make YOU the instrument of bringing best practice to your place of work, will open up significantly better prospects for promotion, give you deeper job-satisfaction, a recognition of your skills and expertise – in short make you a far more valuable employee.

You will cover areas like:

  • Delivering excellent customer service
  • Understanding how customer service is provided within the rules
  • Recognising and dealing with customer requests, queries and problems
  • Giving customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Making customer service personal
  • Going the extra mile in customer service
  • Dealing with customers in writing, using ICT or by telephone


You will be assessed using a combination of assignments, online tests, oral questioning, a portfolio of evidence and by practical demonstration and observation of your on-the-job activities. You will attend classes for a few hours three or four times a week, and spend some time on a work placement where you can be assessed and observed. If you are not in employment, we will arrange a work placement for you.

Future opportunities

On achieving a Level 3 qualification, you will become far more aware of what makes your business tick and what doesn’t work. You will have the expertise to vie for supervisory, or management roles, and a vast new area of progression and employment opens up to you.
