Physical Education A Level at Strode's College

Course description

If you are interested in learning more about how the body works, how you learn and develop physical skills and the impact that physical activity has on young people developing a balanced, active and healthy lifestyle then Physical Education could be the course for you. You will develop an understanding of the relationship between skill, strategy / composition and body and mind readiness so as to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of performance.

Course content

Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of factors that enable them and others to be physically active, as part of a balanced lifestyle, and as part of a lifelong involvement in an active and healthy lifestyle. Students will also learn how they and others make the most of the opportunities and pathways available to be involved in physical activity.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements for a Level 3 Pathway. Plus a grade C in a Science GCSE and a grade C in PE GCSE, if taken, or equivalent.


60% theoretical examination 40% practical/oral assessment in two sports.

Future opportunities

Students can progress into a variety of careers including Sports Coaching, PE Teaching, Physiotherapy and the fitness and leisure industries. Many students go on to study sport courses at university.
