Course description

The Cambridge Technicals provide opportunities to develop skills demanded by employers.

These qualifications and units are in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). They have been structured to enable learners to gain qualifications at their own pace and build on their achievements.

This is a two-year course that will help to prepare you for the world of business, whether you will be following a path of employment or taking further studies at university. The course will provide you with the knowledge of key business concepts, both theory and practice, that will equip you for working in a variety of business organisations.

These qualifications have been designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to enable progression to further education/higher education in the same or related areas in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and from the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma  (60credit):

D = Distinction

M = Merit

P = Pass

UCAS Points Equivalent:

The course:

Suitable for learners who are:

·         Studying in preparation for employment in Business

Assessment for Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma:

The assessment of units are by centre devised assignments or tasks. These assignments are designed to allow you to draw on evidence from real companies (where possible) and will be carried out throughout the year.  The assignments are assessed, based on the evidence provided by you and graded internally (and externally moderated by an OCR Visiting Moderator) and then the grades are aggregated to provide an overall grade for the qualification. Qualifications above Pass grade are graded Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.

A range of assessment methods may be used, depending on the modules being studied, such as:

·         Observation of practice, including video or DVD recording

·         Questioning

·         Examining written evidence such as assignments, tasks, planning

·         Examining evidence from others such as witness statements

·         Simulation

Overall aims of the course:

Course is designed to enable learners to:

·         Enter employment.

·         Enter employment and undertake a related qualification at a level appropriate to the job role

·         Enter employment and undertake other related occupational qualifications.

·         Progress to further qualifications

The Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to enable you to progress to further education/higher education in the same or related areas. It provides opportunities to develop essential knowledge and transferable skills in a subject area that interests you.
