Course description

PROGRAMME AIM:

The BTEC Diploma in Business provides students with knowledge and understanding of business activity and the environment in which it operates.

CONTENT:

This is a two year course. Both years must be completed and all 6 units must be achieved to gain the qualification.

Four Core Units

1. The Business Environment

2. Business Resources

3. Introduction to Marketing

4. Business Communication

Optional Units

(any two of the following areas)

Accounting Pathway

Marketing Pathway

Human Resource Pathway

Management Pathway

Law Pathway

Administration Pathway

Entry requirements

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS / SUITABILITY:

Students do not need to have any prior qualification in business but need to demonstrate an ability to cope with a level three course. Students need to be self disciplined and organised in their approach to study. They must also be able to understand and undertake some basic mathematical calculations and  work independently in order to research and complete coursework on time.

Future opportunities

ASSESSED / EXAMINED:

The BTEC National is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic Business situations, activities and demands. There is currently no examinations on this course with externally moderated coursework forming the basis of the assessment.

As part of the course you will be required to:

Undertake research using the internet, books and other forms of media

Give presentations on different topics

Present information in various written forms.

Work on your own and as part of a group
