English Literature at St Julie's Catholic High School

Course description

AQA Specification A English Literature is an extremely successful and popular A Level choice at St. Julieļ¼‡s. Many of our students go on to study Literature at university and still more use the subject as a springboard into the study of a variety of academically rigorous courses at Oxbridge and the Russell Group universities. Independent reading is a must. This is not an option suited to reluctant readers!

AS Level:
Victorian Literature Students are introduced to some of the 'greats' of the literary canon in this unit:
Thomas Hardy, Oscar Wilde, John Clare, Charles Dickens,and the Brontes to name but a few.

A2 Level:
Love through the Ages The course gets much broader in Year 13, with students reading a variety of literary texts from a range of eras and writers. They will read poetry, prose and drama in varied styles and all concerning love in its many guises.

GCSE grade B or above in English
