Chesham United Football Academy at Chiltern Hills Academy
Chesham United are creating a Football Academy. The aim of this new community based initiative is to raise the awareness of students of all ages in sport in general and football in particular. The club already runs over twenty-five football teams with ages ranging from as young as six to adult Ladies and Men’s 1st teams.
The aim of the Academy will be to widen the community involvement even further by running soccer programmes for both girls and boys, with fully qualified FA coaching staff, in participating primary and secondary schools in the Chesham and surrounding area.
Their overall aim, by offering such an opportunity to the wider community of children is to help improve their general fitness whilst teaching them valuable football skills in an environment of increasing competition as they grow older. They also aim, as part of the programme, to teach students the benefits of supporting and sharing with others and to encourage their understanding and enjoyment from being part of a team, not just in sport but in the community in general.
As part of the Football Academy Project, the club is working in partnership with Chiltern Hills Academy to offer 16 to 18 year old boys and girls who can demonstrate good football ability and who have attained the necessary GCSE level attainments, the opportunity to gain a vocational qualification whilst further developing their football skills.
