Course description

The Apprenticeship Framework comprises the following qualifications and need the Apprentice to be employed in a suitable workplace:IMIAL Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Competence.IMIAL Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles.Functional Skills at Level 1 in English, Mathematics and ICT (if required)Employee Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS)

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade A* - E to include English Language, Mathematics and a Science.

Assessment

The Competence element (NVQ) is entirely delivered and assessed in the workplace and uses observation, work product and professional discussion. An e-portfolio is the means of providing supporting evidence of competence across a range of units related to the work activities.The Knowledge element (Technical Certificate) is provided at Trafford College on a day release basis over the year where the Apprentice covers topics such as Chassis Technology, Diagnostics & Vehicle repair and maintenance. It is assessed throughout the year by tests and written assignments.

Future opportunities

Progression can be to the Advanced apprenticeship at Level three.

      The site is situated on Talbot Road (A5014), 2 miles from M602 slip Road (Junction 3) and 2 miles from Junction 7 of the M60. The College is located opposite Lancashire County Cricket Club and approximately 10 minutes walk from Old Trafford Football Ground.
