AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship - Level 2, 3 & 4 at Babington Group
If you’re good with numbers, and fancy a career that’s all about money, an apprenticeship in accounting could be for you!
By combining the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) pathway with Babington’s Apprenticeship programme, you can become qualified for a career in accounting without the need for a degree.
AAT is an internationally recognised qualification that provides the essential foundation and development of skills.
The course of the qualifications enables individuals to advance from the very basics of accounting principles to the more complex tasks at Accounting Technician Level and provides a platform for continued progression through to Chartered status.
Accounting Apprenticeships with Babington Business College
Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time. You will work towards the nationally recognised AAT qualification. Employers all over the country recognise and value Apprenticeships as they show that you’ve been trained in the skills they need.
The Accounting Apprenticeship Level 2 framework consists of:
- (AAT) Certificate in Accounting Level 2
- Functional skills in Maths
- Functional skills in English
- Employee Rights and Responsibilities Workbook
The AAT Certificate in Accounting Level 2 allows an individual to learn and gain a globally recognised qualification designed to meet the standards set by industry in occupational areas. It is designed to cover various aspects of a job or area of work, assessing skills actually used in the accounting world. Personal Learning & Thinking Skills are embedded through the programme.
This will be delivered on a day release basis in your nearest Babington training centre over a minimum 12 month period.
This is the introductory level. If you are new to finance or want to brush up on your foundation knowledge and skills, this would be the ideal level for you to start at. No formal qualifications are required but individuals should be numerate, enthusiastic, motivated, reliable and prepared to work hard. An interest in finance as well as good communication skills are essential and it is important to be understanding and show respect for others in a professional environment.
These are computer based examinations set and marked by AAT. Four of the units will be assessed this way, typically as soon as the unit has been completed. There will be opportunity to practice the exams before sitting the ‘real’ ones. Results of the computer based assessments are available immediately after the exam. If you do not achieve competence at the first attempt, the unit exam can be retaken.
AAT LearnPlus Online Assessments
One of the units is assessed by Skills-based Assessment. You will set up an e-portfolio on AAT’s LearnPlus site and an e-assessment will be set up for them. On completion of the e-assessment, it will be assessed by the tutor/assessor and verified internally. If you do not achieve competence at the first attempt, the unit exam can be retaken.
Alternatively, this unit can be assessed via work-based evidence if you are able to cover all of the criteria in this way.
What sort of job could I expect after completing the introductory level?
Accounts Payable Clerk
Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk
Trainee Accounts Technician
If you wish to progress further you can continue on to Level 3 & 4
Applicants will be required to attend an enrolment session at their local Babington office before being considered for our apprenticeships. This session will include a presentation with more information about our apprenticeships, a face to face chat with a friendly staff member about your future goals, and occasionally online assessments.
