Course description

The ability to understand and communicate in other languages is increasingly important in our society and in the global economy. Languages contribute to the cultural and linguistic richness of our society, to personal fulfilment, mutual understanding, commercial success and international trade and global citizenship.


Course content

You will learn more about how the language works, so that you can manipulate the language to express your own ideas. You will also learn more about the culture of France and French-speaking countries.

Travel worldwide has never been easier, but with A-Level French you could:

Future opportunities

The Advanced Level course provides a natural progression from a GCSE in French. Studying a foreign language at Advanced Level is one of the most useful qualifications that you can choose and will be a very marketable skill for prospective employers.

It will also make your travel abroad in the future more interesting and enjoyable. You will continue to develop the four main language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
