A level English Literature encourages students to develop interest and enjoyment in literary study through reading widely and critically.
The texts offered for study span both pre C20 and C20, taken from a range of genres.
Modules include close study of War Literature, including prose, poetry and drama. Students will be required to complete 3 major pieces of coursework over two years. One will include a creative, imaginative response to a prose text. Students will be tested on their ability to compare texts, to read and understand well-known literary critics and to formulate their own critical viewpoints.
Students who study this subject will normally have achieved five A* - C grades in a range of subjects at GCSE and should ideally have attained at least B grades in English Literature and English Language.
