Triple BTEC in Art & Design at Blackpool Sixth Form College

Course description

BTEC in Art & Design will allow you to specialise and provides an excellent introduction to a career in the visual arts, working on live briefs in the local community. Practical skills within both two and three dimensions will be explored and you will be encouraged to personalise your approach through artist appreciation.

Course content


Year one includes:

  • Photography
  • Printmaking
  • Textiles & 3D
  • Mixed media, Painting & Drawing
  • Photoshop

Year two includes:

  • Specialising in chosen techniques
  • Graphic Design & self promotion
  • Promoting your end of year show
  • Working on a community project

Entry requirements

A grade C or above in a GCSE Art and Design subject or a BTEC Level 2 qualification in Art and Design. Students without this are required to present a portfolio/selection of their work at interview.

Future opportunities

To the BTEC HND foundation degree in Fine Art and top up degree or to other direct degree courses or employment in a range of Art and Design disciplines including: multimedia design, interior design, textiles design, theatre, stage design, painting and sculpture to name but a few.
