Sociology at St Julie's Catholic High School
Over the duration of the course students will complete two units of study for AS. Grades from AS and A2 units will be combined to give students their overall ALevel qualification.
This course requires a desire on the part of the student to inquire into relationships and institutions within society. The student needs the ability to take an objective view about institutions and values which they may have previously taken for granted.
Students should benefit from an interest in current affairs and be aware of social issues around them.
Studying Sociology should foster the development of critical and reflective thinking and develop skills that enable individuals to focus on their personal identity, roles and responsibilities within society.
It should also develop a lifelong interest in social issues.
