Sport & Exercise Science BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Queen Mary's College

Course description

The Sport Level 3 Certificate is a one year course equivalent to one AS Level. Students can then go on to study an additional three units in the second year to gain the full BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma qualification.

This course is designed for students following an AS programme who are interested in sport but are not physically involved in competitive sport. There is no assessment of practical performance (unlike AS Sport and Physical Education) and students will complete the following units in the first year: Anatomy for Sport and Exercise; Sport and Exercise Physiology, Sport and Exercise Psychology. Second year units include Fitness Training and Programming, Sports Injuries and Research Project. The course will may also involve field trips, with previous destinations including Southampton Solent University, St Mary’s University and Club La Santa in Lanzarote, where certain course units will be studied.
