Further Mathematics A Level at Saint Benedict, A Catholic Voluntary Academy

Course description

In Year 12 students will study one core module FP1 and two applied modules M1 and S2. Assessment for each module is by a 90 minute written exam worth 75 marks. Each module is equally weighted at 16.6%.

Students can cash in for an AS level in Further Mathematics at the end of year 12 with 3 modules, or continue until the end of year 13 for a full A level with 6 modules. Those continuing into Year 13 will study one further core module, FP2, and two more applied modules, M2 and D2. Again, assessment for each module is by a 90 minute written exam worth 75 marks. Each module is equally weighted at 16.6%.

Students following this course, must also study Mathematics.

Entry requirements

All Level 3 students must have 5 separate GCSE passes (A*-C), including English Language and Maths.  

Grade A in Maths.  You will be required to pass an induction assignment.  Further Maths cannot be taken without Maths.

Future opportunities

Mathematics is one of the core disciplines which underpins the skills required in many occupations.

A Mathematics qualification is desirable for careers in Science, Social Sciences, Engineering, Finance and Accounting, Medicine, Computer Programming, Market Research and Town and Country Planning.
