Theatre Studies A Level at Queens` School

Course description

Component 1: Devising. You will explore an extract of a play and create your own piece of theatre using the extract as a stimulus. You will create a portfolio to go with your performance.

Component 2: Text in Performance. You will perform a monologue and a group piece from two different plays.

Component 3: Theatre Makers in Practice. For this written exam you will study 2 plays from the perspective of an actor, director and designer. You will also evaluate live theatre.

Entry requirements

Students must also have a C grade or above in GCSE Maths and
English. 

Assessment

Component 1: 40% internally assessed and externally moderated.

Component 2: 20% externally assessed.

Component 3: 40% externally assessed (2 and a half hour written exam)

Future opportunities

Students continue their studies at university in Drama. Some of our students go on to study Law. Drama is seen in a very positive light by universities as students can communicate effectively. Past students have gone to drama school to study musical theatre, technical theatre, acting and dance.
