Level 3 Complementary Therapies at Newton Rigg College

Course description

You’ll practice what you learn in Eden Boutique, our commercial beauty salon, which simulates a real work environment. This qualification will equip you with the practical skills needed to be a confident complementary therapist. This course is ideal for those therapists intending to progress their career into spas or specialise in their area of preferred therapy.

Course content

Course Themes:

• Swedish body massage • Aromatherapy • Reflexology • Healthy eating and well-being • Anatomy, physiology and pathology • Client care and communication • Business practice for complementary therapies • Monitoring health and safety practice • Principles and practices of complementary therapies • Work related experience or placement • English and maths provision where applicable

Entry requirements

Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include any 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade D in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English and Maths at Level 2

Through practical tasks and classroom work
