Forestry and Arboriculture Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Northumberland College
The course is for individuals who would like a career in tree surgery, landscaping, local authority tree management or self-employment. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn a range of new practical skills, which will prepare you to carry out tree surgery and tree care operations. It will also provide you with the underpinning knowledge to enable you to progress within the industry in order to carry out a range of other exciting tasks and find other potential employment opportunities.
You will study the following units on this program: - Tree climbing - Tree pruning - Legal aspects - Plant science - Tree identification - Tree planting - Tree felling - Chainsaw use.
To study on the course you will need to be over 16 and have one of the following entry requirements: - 4 GCSEs at grade C or above Intermediate GNVQ First Diploma Mature students and applicants with a significant level of experience will also be considered
Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/ observations, written assignments, and identification tests. You will also have regular tutorials to monitor your progress and provide support throughout the course.
After completing the course you could build on what you have already achieved by studying a further 3 units. This would allow you to gain a 90 credit Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture (Arboriculture). Completing the course could also allow you to gain employment as a Tree surgeon, local authority tree inspector.
