Dance A Level at Christopher Whitehead Language College

Course description

A Level Dance is an academic course which looks at both the theory and practice of dance. There is a high level of performance and choreography throughout the course. Key choreographers and practitioners are studied in depth and technical and performance skills are developed to an exceptional level.

Theoretical knowledge of a dancers training is considered and anatomy and physiology is studied in detail. You will engage with the process of choreography and study the production elements of dance performance.

A Level (2231)

  DANC3- Dance Appreciation - Content and Context  

 DANC4- Group Choreography and Solo Performance

Entry requirements

 GCSE Dance at Grades A*- C

 Other candidates can be considered if they have extensive practical dance experience and have not completed the GCSE.

A Level Dance offers opportunities to continue into the Performing Arts Sector in Higher Education institutions. Well matched degrees include Dance, Drama, Music, Art, Media, Film, Business Studies, Education, Creative Writing, Nutrition and Health and Sport or Exercise Science.
