Creative Media UAL Level 2 Diploma (full-time) at East Surrey College

Course description

This exciting new course provides a broad grounding in sound and moving image and a general introduction to the media industry. It serves as an introductory pathway to Film and Television and Sound and Music Production Level 3 courses, providing a solid foundation for a career in the creative industries.

Course content

There are eight units over one year including compulsory and specialist units as well as a retake in GCSE English and Maths if required and or Functional Skills if required as part of the study programme. Units may include:
 
Introduction to Creative Media Skills, Exploring Audio Production and Technology, Exploring Visual Production and Technology, Exploring Interactive Production and Technology, and Personal Project and Presentation in Creative Media Production.
Mandatory work experience will also be undertaken by all learners outside college hours (WEX).

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs grade A*-D including English and Maths or BTEC Level 1 Diploma at a Merit/Distinction level.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous and based on coursework for each unit, at the end of which, formal grading takes place.

If you are under 19 on 31/08/2016, tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please consult Client Services for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.

Future opportunities

Learners who complete a Creative Media Level 2 UAL Diploma will obtain a qualification which will enable progression onto further study at Level 3, training or employment. The course allows learners to develop media technology skills encouraging them to make informed choices with regards to a career in the creative media sector or pursuing additional training in this area.
