Art and Design A Level at Calderstones School

Course description

You are introduced to a variety of experiences that explore a range of two-dimensional and three-dimensional media, processes and techniques. You will have the opportunity to explore the use of drawing for different purposes, using a variety of methods and media on a variety of scales with work presented in sketchbooks and journals. You will study a wide range of art, craft and design from the past and from recent times, including European and non-European examples. You must then select and study others’ work and relate it to your own demonstrating a good critical understanding. Practical work should demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of the subject whilst being both creative and individual.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in GCSE Art and Design.

Studying A-Level Art and Design will open a wide range of career opportunities to you. As currently the leading field of employment within the UK art and design jobs include; animator, architect, graphic designer, web designer, fashion designer, interior designer, photographer, window dresser, set designer, ceramicist to name but a few.
