Customer Service: Level 2 Apprenticeship at NESCOT
Apprenticeships are a popular choice for people aged 16 or above, looking for on the job training and the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage. Most of your training will be directly linked to the career you have chosen, gaining practical experience in the workplace.
An Apprenticeship in Customer Service will develop your employability skills. This qualification would be suitable for anyone whose role includes communicating with customers, building relationships with customers, resolving problems, promoting products and/or services, using appropriate communication channels, keeping records, gathering customer feedback and working in a team.
You may have a dedicated customer service job role e.g Customer Service Trainee, Assistant, Representative or Agent. A wide variety of other job roles within which customer service skills complement other technical skills at the Intermediate level also exist; and those undertaking such job roles are also likely to benefit from undertaking the Customer Service Intermediate Apprenticeship.
Where possible staff from the College Apprenticeship Team will help you find an employer and place of work (although students who are already employed are welcome to apply if sponsored by their employer). Your offer of Apprenticeship training will be dependent on work places being available.
To gain the full apprenticeship you will work towards the following qualifications:
• Diploma in Customer Service (QCF)
• Functional Skills qualification in mathematics
• Functional Skills qualification in English
The NVQ Certificate in Customer Service will relate specifically to your job role. However you may be expected to attend a number of workshops to build your knowledge.

o Ability to work in a team as well as on your own initiative
o Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
Whilst your technical skills and knowledge will develop over the course of your Apprenticeship you will also need to demonstrate to potential
employers that you possess the relevant skills and personal qualities and are willing to work and learn.

Ability to work in a team as well as on your own initiative
Enthusiastic and willing to learn
To begin this course you must be eligible to work within England or the European Economic Area (EEC) and be employed for a minimum of 30 hours in a relevant job role and be able to attend college on a part-time basis. Your employer must commit to supporting you throughout your apprenticeship and provide on-the-job learning as well as your college based off-the-job learning.
If you do not have an employer to support your apprenticeship the college will support you to find an employer through our dedicated employer support team.
You will also need to have achieved GCSEs at grade A* - E (or comparable qualification) in English, maths and ICT. Please note, you may also be required to undertake an initial assessment prior to enrolment in order to assess your current level of English, maths and ICT. Your interviewer will discuss with you want minimum level you will need to achieve at initial assessment.
Additionally, if you have already obtained a level 4 or above qualification then you will not be eligible for apprenticeship funding. Individuals who already have a qualification at level 4 or above are only eligible for funding for a higher apprenticeship at level 5 or above.
You will be continually assessed throughout your training. Your progress will be reviewed regularly and achievable targets set, to ensure you complete your apprenticeship on time.
Apprenticeships are fully funded for those aged 16 – 18 years. There is an annual employer contribution for those aged 19+.
On successful completion of this Apprenticeship you could progress to an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Customer Service (Level 3).
