Childcare & Education (Early Years Educator) CACHE Level 3 Certificate/Diploma at Brooklands College

Course description

This subject is for you if you have an interest in caring for young children.

This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 7 years through themed taught lessons and is assessed through work placement competency and written work.

Course content

The topics covered within the course include:
• Health and well-being
• Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
• Play, development and learning for school readiness
• Professional development, observation and assessment

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C, these must include GCSE English Language and Maths, a satisfactory reference and a DBS clearance.


An assessor will assess you in your work placement environment providing on-going support to compile your portfolio of evidence which will also include written assignments and an external written assessment.

Financial information

Your tutor will advise you of any additional costs at the start of the course.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

This qualification is an excellent route into employment as an Early Years Educator working in a variety of settings; the course also provides you with UCAS points which allows you to progress to university to study courses such as Early Childhood Studies, Teaching and many more.  Alternatively you may be able to progress onto the Early Years Foundation Degree at Brooklands College when you have gained experience in an early years setting.
