Psychology at Carlton le Willows Academy

Course description

Psychology is the study of human behaviour.

In year 12 (AS) 5 areas of psychology are examined:

 The memory, especially in relation to eyewitness testimony.

 Attachments and developments in children.

 The nature and effects of stress.

 Abnormality with special reference to mental disorders.

 Obedience, conformity and ethics.

Types of research methods are also studied.

In year 13 (A2) a further 5 areas of psychology are studied:

 Sleep and sleep disorders.

 Explanations of aggressive behaviour.

 The development of intelligence.

 Explanations of schizophrenia.

 The psychology of addictive behaviour.

Research methods are also examined in more detail.

Entry requirements

BB in Core and Additional Science or B grade in Biology and B grade in English Language
