Food Science & Nutrition Level 3 Diploma at Hazelwick School

Course description

The food industry is Great Britain's largest industry with an annual turnover of £80 billion & rising.  It employs over three million people in jobs that use a wide range of skills in a huge variety of positions.  If you have a strong interest in any aspect of food production & development, this subject could lead you into a challenging & progressive career.  The course involves practical work to assist the understanding of theoretical concepts.

Course content

Unit 1 - Meeting Nutrition Needs of Specific Groups - mandatory

Unit 2 - Ensuring Food is Safe to East

Unit 3 - Experimenting to Solve Food Production Problems

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 x grade C/4 at GCSE (GCSE Food & Nutrition is not essential, if taken, then a grade C is expected).

Assessment

Unit 1 - assessedf through 1 piece of coursework & 1 exam 

Unit 2 - 8 hr timed, supervised assessment externally

Unit 3 - ongoing practical sessions

The Diploma will be graded at Level 3 Pass, Meri, Distinction or Distinction*
