Course description

This Apprenticeship is ideal for anyone employed as a Warehouse Operative.

Course content

In your role as a Warehouse Operative you will work as part of a team. You may be required to load / unload vehicles. You will also have delegated responsibility for the correct selection and packing of customer orders, ensuring they are ready for dispatch on time.

On the Apprenticeship you will undertake a Certificate in Warehousing and Storage Level 2. This is a combined qualification that covers the knowledge and competence needed. Elements will be achieved through completion of the mandatory and optional units. The choice of knowledge units will depend on the role decided at the start of the course. In addition you will study:

  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D or above. These must include English Language or Maths or an equivalent qualification. You must also be employed as an Apprentice in a suitable warehousing role.


All units are assessed mainly by observation of your workplace practice by an assessor. The evidence of assessments confirming competence of practice will be compiled with contributions from you and your assessor.

Further information

Apprentices must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours. Contracted hours include time for study.
