Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings at Leeds City College

Course description

If you would like to make a difference in someone's life and see your future career in the care sectore, then this course can give you a great introduction to working within the health, social care and childcare sector.

During the course, you will develop skills in care for others and understand the responsibilities of working as a professional in a caring environment. Taught by industry experts, you will gain an insight into the sector, whilst learning best practice taken from the tutors' experiences.

Entry requirements

Students wishing to enrol to a Level 1 Learning programme will come with a range of qualifications which could include GCSE's, units of qualifications already taken or have few or no qualifications. All students will be required to develop skills in Personal and Social Development, Employability, a vocational qualification and Maths, English and ICT.

Each student will be invited to an interview where a personalised learning programme can be discussed and agreed. All candidates must be committed to working in the Health, Social Care or Childcare sector, be caring, creative and energetic, have a sense of humour and a lively and outgoing personality.

To work with children (under 18) or vulnerable adults, students will need to complete an enhanced disclosure check for the Disclosure and Barring Services. The college will organise this for you but if your course is not fully funded i.e: if you are not 16-18 or on certain benefits then you may have to pay. The estimated cost of the enhanced DBS check is £54. Full details regarding payment and documentation will be provided prior to enrolment.

Apply for an apprenticeship or traineeship in Health and Social Care/Clinical Support Work.
