Business - A level at City College
In this extremely relevant course you will learn about starting a business and managing a large, multinational organisation. It is an exciting course, which will give you an insight into the world of business and current affairs. The course will provide you with relevant, real-world business skills through talking to real entrepreneurs and a variety of business visits.
Topics covered include:
- Business strategy
- Human Resources
- Leadership & Management
During year 1 you will study the role and purpose of business and management and leadership. You will then study decision making to improve marketing, operational, financial and human resource performance.
In year 2 the focus is on strategic decision making, how businesses plan for the future including changes in direction, size and organisational control.
There is no requirement to have studied business before, but you will need five GCSE’s at A*to C including maths and English.
How is the course assessed?
All assessment is carried out through three external examinations. There is NO coursework
3 x 2 hour exams—100%
The course is open to anyone who is aged 16-18 on the 31st August, in the year that the course starts
This qualification supports progression into further and higher education, training or employment in a wide variety of disciplines.
From Junior Management roles to Managing Directors there is no limit for students of Business.
Students of this course often progress to university and apprenticeships in Business related disciplines.
