ICT *FEES PAYABLE* at Hurstpierpoint College

Course description

The practical use of computers and technology in business is becoming an essential skill that employers are looking for. The ability to use software well and to present data and information correctly, with a discipline that employers expect is at the heart of this course.

The course is designed to give students the practical experience of using Information Technology in the business world. The emphasis is on the practical use of software, as, of the six units covered over the two years, five are practical tasks supported by a portfolio. The external exam in the sixth unit is based on a case study that the board provides in advance. Students gather information that they take into the exam to respond to the questions asked.

We teach beyond the limits of the syllabus with the aim that all students taking the subject acquire the practical skills that will make them employable in the real world, increasing their choice of future opportunities.

Nearly all students have some level of understanding of the software we will be using so although a good grade at GCSE ICT is an advantage it is not essential.
