Physical Education AS/A Level at Chipping Norton School

Course description

Welcome to Physical Education at Chipping Norton School. The overall aim of the department is to enable pupils to enjoy and achieve in PE. It develops their physical capabilities to the full, through acquiring skills and knowledge. Students will have the understanding in order to fulfil a life-long active and healthy lifestyle.

Course content

AS Level

  • Applied Anatomy & Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics
  • Skill Acquisition, Sport Psychology and Sport in Society

The practical component is made up of assessment  in one sports/activity.

A Level

Comparative Studies

Sport Psychology

  • Exercise and Sport Physiology

The practical component is made up of an assessment in one sport/activity.



AS - the breakdown of this course is 70% theory and 30% practical assessment. The theory component of AS Level is examined with two 75 minute exams 

A Level - the theory component of A Level is examined with one 2.5 hour exam
