Health & Social Care BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

The Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care is ideal for anyone who is interested in a career in health and social care. This includes jobs such as care workers and healthcare assistants. Following completion of the course, learners will have the opportunity to progress to a related Level 2 course, or seek employment straight away.

The Diploma consists of a variety of units that will provide basic skills and knowledge of the field of Health and Social Care. Topics covered include:

  • Human Growth and Development
  • Creative activities for young children promoting healthy eating in care and encouraging children to eat healthily
  • Communication with adults and children in health and social care.

Entry requirements

Ideally prospective students should hold a minimum of 2 GCSEs D-G although students without qualifications may apply.

Assessment

Coursework- a range of methods of assessment including assignments, reports, essays, presentations.

Future opportunities

A Distinction profile is required to allow progression to Level 2.
