Child Care and Education CACHE Award/Certificate/Diploma at Eastbrook Comprehensive School

Course description

This course is for those students who are interested in a career working with children. Students may obtain employment in nurseries or schools working with pre school children. The course allows students to obtain a lot of practical experience as students will spend 3 days at a local placement and 2 days a week based in school.

Course content

Diploma consists of 7 units, all of which are assessed either through assignments or externally set multiple choice tests. The units covered are:

Introduction to working with Children.

The Developing child

Safe, healthy and nurturing environments for children

Children and play

Communication and professional skills

The practitioner in the workplace.

Working with children 0-5 years. 

Entry requirements

 It is advantageous to have achieved at least 3 GCSE’s at grade D but students who do not achieve this level will be given consideration subject to recommendation by their Head of Sixth Form. 

Students who successfully complete the level 2 course are able to progress onto a second year. This option will be discussed with suitable candidates during the year. 

Candidates should be keen and well motivated. You will need to have an excellent attendance record during the year. You will need to complete all of your coursework within the designated time.
