Biology A-Level at Tavistock Community College

Course description

The first year of this course is an AS level qualification and consists of 2 units of study. The student may continue to study for a second year in order to gain an A2 qualification. This course gives an introduction to what really happens in cells and organisms. It includes topics on “Cells, Exchange and Transport” and “Molecules, Biodiversity and Human Interaction”. There is a strong practical element to this course, and students take part in a 5 day residential field course in their second year. This is a fascinating course: intellectually rigorous and stimulates an appreciation of how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society.
