Sociology AS level at Easthampstead Park Community School

Course description

Sociology gives you an understanding of social and cultural issues. It will give you many transferable skills, in particular focused analytical skills and skills suitable for use in business.

Course content

You will study a range of sociological issues, including theory and methods, families and households, education, crime and deviance and the media.

Entry requirements

GCSE A*-C in Maths and English.


Assessment is by exam. At AS level there are two exams.

Future opportunities

This course can lead to studying it at university. It also complements a wide range of other subjects such as Psychology, English, Business, Criminology, Law and Education. Sociology is useful for careers in social work, law, business, marketing, journalism, government and politics, teaching and nursing.
