Production Arts - Level 3 Diploma at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This is a practical and work related course providing a diversity of theory / practical based modules related to the Production Arts. You will explore and develop a film set and look at theatre production skills trying them out in a workshop setting which reflects some of the conditions, demands and time constraints of a professional environment. For the Diploma Award you will complete twelve units over two years, whilst for the Extended Diploma you will complete eighteen units over two years.

Course content

A wide range of options are offered for the specialist units including:- Stage Manager Assistant Stage Manager Scenic Construction for the Stage Scenic Painting Stage Model Making Mask Making Prop Making Costume Design Front of House

Entry requirements

To gain entry to this course you must possess four or more GCSE's at Grade C or above, to include English at Grade C or above (or an equivalent qualification e.g. Level 2 English and preferably Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent e.g. Level 2 Maths) or other equivalent qualifications acceptable to the College. You must also undertake a successful interview and provide a satisfactory reference. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

Continuous through successfully completing a series of assignments and projects.

Future opportunities

Completion of this course allows students to progress to Higher Education in Production Arts or move into employment within the Entertainment Industry.
