Art and Design A Level at The John Henry Newman RC School

Course description

• The course is a direct continuation of the GCSE course and
you will therefore develop all the skills you have been
using at this level, for example: drawing, painting and
using of a range of media in order to design and create
works of art.
• You will investigate other artists’ work and begin to
understand the way artists work. You will investigate their
work in greater depth in order to allow this knowledge to
support the development of your own work.
• You will learn to work in a more independent way;
you will be asked to consider ways in which your own
ideas can be explored through the use of a strong visual
language which you will develop over the period of the
two year course.
