Maths GCSE at Macclesfield College

Course description

GCSE English and Mathematics are essential requirements for employment and Higher Education.

If you haven't achieved a grade C or above in GCSE English and Mathematics you will need to study either GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main programme of study. If you have achieved a grade C or above in English and Maths you will be expected to engage in extending these skills through directed study.

Functional Skills qualifications are an excellent way to prove you have the valuable, transferable English and Maths skills that higher education and the world of work require.

Specialist teachers and curriculum teams will help you gain these essential, transferable skills using modern and innovative teaching methods designed to motivate you and help you achieve your full potential.

Entry requirements

All full-time 16-18 year old students study one Functional Skill a year as part of their main programme unless they already have a GCSE at grade A* to C or a Functional Skill in the subject at the appropriate level. The Functional Skills you study are chosen to be the most relevant to you and your main course.
