The topics studied are much more advanced than at GCSE. You could soon be expressing your opinions on the concerns of young people in France, their culture and religions, the European Union, films, world-wide problems such as third-world debt, to name but a few.
Ideally, you need to have gained a B or above in your chosen language at GCSE, having sat some higher level papers
Course Content: A qualification in a language opens many doors.Higher Education: You may wish to study a degree course in languages or combined a language with another degree discipline to further your career opportunities e.g. German and Engineering, French and English Literature, Spanish and Business Studies. Careers: Languages allow you to travel and work abroad. However, in a global economy all employers value linguists highly so you will be able to pursue a career in most fields including in translating/interpreting, commerce/industry, import/export, teaching/lecturing, publishing, librarianship and the diplomatic service..
