Biology A Level at Anthony Gell School

Course description

Biology is the scientific study of life and living organisms. This course gives students the opportunity to explore all aspects of the subject from molecular biology, cell structure and transport systems through to evolution, biodiversity and genetics. The course is split into different theoretical topics with practical skills integrated throughout. Practical work is a vital part of Biology, biologists apply their skills in a wide variety of contexts: from conservation to food production; from tracking invasive species to controlling disease. During AS and A - level Biology there will be six core practical tasks each year; these along with other practical work will give you the opportunity to learn, practise and demonstrate these skills.

Entry requirements

Standard + B Mathematics + B English Language + double science BB, or if triple science B in Biology and B in another science.

Standard = This is the standard requirement for studying a subject. This means that you must have at least five GCSE grades at C or above, including English Language and/or Mathematics.
