Mathematics A Level at Bedford Academy

Course description

Maths is about patterns and structure, logic, deduction and proof. It is about challenge and clarity and the satisfaction gained when you know something is right.

Course content

You will study a wide range of topics including: calculus, trigonometry, differential equations, coordinate geometry, vector geometry, kinematics, statics, dynamics and probablility. You will develop your problem solving skills, your logical thinking skills and your ability to model complex situations more simply.


A Level Maths will be assessed by written AS and A2 exams at the end of each year. There is no coursework.

Future opportunities

A strong mathematical ability is highly valued by Universities and employers. A Level maths is an essential requirement for many degree courses such as mathematics, computing, statistics, engineering and physics and is highly desirable in a wide range of others including economics, finance, accounting, chemistry and medicine.
