Accounting Level 3 Apprenticeship at Carshalton College

Course description

The Association of Accounting Technicians is the professional organisation for accounting technicians. It provides a recognised qualification and a membership body for accounting support staff working in accounting practice, industry and commerce and the public sector.

Course content

This programme consists of nine learning areas

  • Accounts preparation.
  • Prepare final accounts for Sole Traders and Partnerships.
  • Costs, revenues
  • Indirect Tax
  • Professional Ethics - Case Study
  • Spreadsheet Software - Case Study
  • Employers Rights & Responsibilities
  • Functional Skills Level 2 English
  • Functional Skills Level 2 Maths

Entry requirements

An average of Grade C for four or more GCSEs or you will have successfully completed a level 2 programme. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment and skills in an interview. If you don't have the required entry qualifications there will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate your abilities to undertake the course.


Assessment is by:

  • Four computer-based exams
  • Two case studies

Financial information

This course, at the moment, incurs no fees for 16-18 year old students.

Future opportunities

Level 4 Diploma in Accounting. Students intending to become members of the Association of Accounting Technicians need to acquire accreditation at all stages.
