Geography A Level (AQA) at Brigshaw High School and Language College

Course description

The new AQA A-level Geography brings together physical and human geography with a focus on key transferable skills that employers and Universities both value highly. It comprises 2 examinations, one in each geographical discipline plus a geographical investigation based upon fieldwork undertaken. This course will give students an excellent grounding in Geography for further study in this or related subjects.

Course content

Physical Geography: You will study water and carbon cycles, coastal systems and landscapes plus hazards.

Human Geography: You will study global systems and governance, changing places plus contemporary urban environments.

You will get a chance to go on a range of fieldwork which will culminate in a 3000 word report on your study.

Entry requirements

At least a C at GCSE Geography (with a C or higher at GCSE English preferable)

Geography graduates are some of the most employable and studies show that 96.6% are in work or further education by the end of the first year after graduation. Geography is a facilitating subject, which means that it is highly valued by Universities across the UK even if you choose not to take it at degree level.
