Access to Higher Education Diploma: Health Studies Level 3 at South & City College Birmingham

Course description

This full-time course is designed for mature students who want to access university. It is the equivalent of three A levels, completed in nine months, so it is a very intensive programme. All students study: skills for learning, social science (sociology/psychology), health studies and biology.

Entry requirements

You will need GCSEs in English and maths at grade A-C you will need to pass an initial assessment and interview. You should have substantial work experience (minimum 6 months or 9 months if you wish to become a social worker) in an area related to your chosen career.

Future opportunities

Students who achieve this qualification progress onto university*. The course is particularly suitable for degrees, including Nursing and other Health Professions, Midwifery, Social Work, Psychology and Sociology. This course is also suitable for students who wish to progress to HNC/HNDs or Foundation degrees in health or social science related areas.* For most universities you will be required to have GCSE English and maths as well as the Access to HE Diploma. It is the students responsibility to check the entry requirements for individual universities.
