Barbering - Apprenticeship (Level 2) at Babington Business College - Training for today
These programmes are aimed at people intending to work, or already working, in barbers' shops or men's hairdressing salons. It emphasises the underlying principles and the practical skills required of barbers or men's hairdressers. As men become as style conscious as women, the demand for male grooming services is on the rise. Skilled barbers who can cut and style hair and trim beards are in demand all over the UK. Learners on barbering programmes will learn to give individual consultations and how to cut, trim, shape and shave facial hair. They will also give scalp massages, colour hair and have a good understanding of hygiene. At Apprenticeship Level learners will work towards six mandatory units plus a wide selection of optional units. Functional Skills - English and Mathematics.
No formal qualifications are required but individuals should be enthusiatic motivated reliable and willing to work hard. Good communication skills are essential and it is important to be understanding and show respect for others. Individuals will complete a basic skills assessment test and those who display results at entry 2 or below will be provided with IAG supporting their needs and referral to the skills for life team.
Progression: Advanced Apprenticeship, senior positionLearners will be provided with the opportunity to enter Training for today's annual hairdressing competition.
